We have had quite alot of big changes going on down here and by blog has taken a back seat for a bit. I have been working through the iMovie learning curve and created this mini movie of some swimming fun. I think it will be nice to have some movies to look back on later of our family.

I have been enjoying the Go Pro but I am not 100% sure what I am doing with it yet. I thought it was a pretty cute mini movie. I have take more footage of family outings lately to make mini movies out of. I am learning new things about video editing as I go just like how I have been learning with my photography. I am always welcome to suggestions/advice/tips or any other ideas.

Until next week, XOXO

Earth Day!

This week has been super rough. The hubby has been crazy busy with work and Jake got terribly sick. We have not gotten much done this week but cuddles, juice boxes and lots of diaper changes. Today is finally a good day, Jake is feeling much better and I got to put some nice clothes (not yoga pants and t-shirts) on and did my hair! We don’t typically have many weeks like this but it happens. Taking care of a sick kid is way more exhausting than you think.

Since Jake has been feeling better today, we made the most of a beautiful Earth day. I snapped a few pictures outside in our garden while we were playing before nap time. I love being outside, getting fresh air and looking at nature’s beauty. Jake knows how to turn on the garden hose outside and he does it when ever we are outside for more than ten minutes. Thank goodness it is always hot down here or he’d be constantly too cold!

^My poor marigolds keep getting pulled up by my sweet little boy trying to pick flowers for me. They are looking pretty pitiful now.^

Time For A Toddler Bed

On Monday this week, after nap time, my crazy man learned to climb out of his crib. I swear this kid can climb anything! I was right there, thank goodness. He landed quite hard but was totally fine. Our baby cam captured it for us. OH BOY!

So we decided to try out a toddler bed. We got a 4-in-1 convertible bed, and I am so happy with our choice. Not only did we need it so soon but it was easy to convert. Here is the bed in white on Amazon.

Logan 4-in-1 Crib

I was super worried that the freedom with the new toddler bed would cause less sleep for everyone. I am excited that I was wrong. He loves the new big kid bed and lays right down at bedtime. He hasn’t gotten up early all week either! We have actually been sleeping in!! He has a little bit of trouble when it is nap time and cries at the baby gate for about 5 minutes everyday but then goes into his bed and falls asleep. I cannot complain! I am SO proud of him! I did make him snap a few pictures the other day in his big kid bed and of course Emma dog had to join.

In other news… this week, I am officially 15 weeks along with Baby #2! It seems to be flying by so far. I am still in most of my regular clothes. I had to use the extender on a couple of my pants this week. Some days I really think I am showing way more than with Jake, but other days I think I am still looking not pregnant. I seem to have gotten more energy back which is awesome. Craving candy like crazy and Jimmy Johns, which is the same as with Jake man. I’d also love some Mad Mushroom Cheese Sticks randomly but not all the time and unfortunately that is only back in Indiana. It has been tough keeping up with my bi-weekly bump pics this time but I am making a point to continue to do it. I know I’ll be happy I did.

12 and 14 week bump pics to catch up!

Hope you all have a wonderful Easter weekend with family and friends! We took advantage of this rainy Good Friday to make Easter breakfast rolls for the weekend! We are both covered in flour!! Until next week…XOXO

Decking The Halls

Bring on the Christmas season!!! We are fully submersed in Christmas music, cooking baking and house decorating Christmas spirit down here. I have been channeling my inner Elsa to bring a little midwest snow to our warm Tampa home. Snowflake decor everywhere!! It was the first year we did not cut down our own Christmas Tree from a Christmas Tree farm which was a little sad but not as sad as the Christmas Tree farms around us. I think our Costco Christmas Tree turned out very pretty.

And finally another snowflake project I have been working on. Jake has tried to destroy it while helping me so it is taking a bit longer than anticipated.2015-12-11 14.00.22

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!! Merry Christmas Season!! XOXO

Kitchen Helper Stool

It is so fun to have a little kitchen helper lately. I know he isn’t much of an actual helper and actually makes more work for me, but I love spending time with this wonderful little man. 2015-10-28 09.24.57

^Don’t worry! I was right there the whole time. He was not in danger of falling off the chair. ^

2015-11-10 18.23.20

I wanted to make something that my son could stand on and “help” me cook in the kitchen instead of just a chair. It is sooo much easier to have him right there playing with the measuring cups or helping stir than running around and climbing everything while I try to cook dinner. I saw some cool Ikea hacks made from the step stool. I decided to make my own. It was pretty simple to make and works great! My husband helped with the adding on to it so it is done a pretty professional, but you can make one without the fancy wood working.

First I built the basic stool from Ikea.

Next I turned it over to my hubby who added the railing on the top. Jake and Emma helped. Well, they tried at least.

2015-11-08 12.57.442015-11-08 12.53.48We put a lower railing on the stool because Jake really likes to climb and we thought it might help keep him contained better. Depending on what you want to do, you do not need the secondary railing.

After all the assembling we had to wait for the glue and wood putty to dry. Then of course some sanding. You do not want sharp corners and edge if a child is climbing on it.

Then the final step was painting. You can paint or stain any color or combo of colors you want. The nice thing about the stool is that it is unfinished wood so it is very versatile. I did a combo of two colors, River Rock and Sailor Blue, to create a cool effect. Make sure you do a top coat to seal it so you can wipe it down after using without worrying about messing up the paint.2015-11-10 15.21.372015-11-10 15.22.062015-11-10 15.21.542015-11-10 16.36.142015-11-10 16.36.27

And we tested it out by making a Pumpkin Layer Cheesecake of course!
