This past weekend we visited the Indianapolis Museum of Art or what is now called Newfields (a little has changed since I last lived in Indy). They are showing a pretty awesome exhibit called Winterlights which we loved! Some very amazing decorations hard to capture in photographs. Everyone loved the over 1.2 million lights that made up the exhibit. If you are in the Indy area, I totally recommend checking it out but make sure to buy tickets ahead of time online. Especially on weekends as they have been selling out. I have read that Santa is there on Tuesday evenings for the little ones or us forever kids as well as free cocoa and cider for kids. Not only were the lights amazing that night, but it was a beautiful full moon too.^No not Christmas lights, but the moon!^The best of the family shots we could get…A couple selfie shots because why not.
They had this crazy cool giant tree made out of recycled plastic toys such as kiddie pools, sleds, etc. I personally thought that was so awesome since I have worked with repurposing used materials into artwork.
Throughout the lovely stroll through the lighted garden, are hot chocolate stations and girl scouts with smores at the end. Jake somehow heard about smores and demanded smores the whole time. He did not take a nap earlier that day and was Mr. Super Grump at Winterlights… you just can’t win them all. He did really enjoy it overall though.
Yummy!I think these floating trees with the dangly snowflakes were my most favorite. How cool are those??!! Total Christmas Tree goals right there for me. Love it! Winterlights is such an amazing exhibit and lights display incase you haven’t realized how much I enjoyed it by now. I know I was way more excited to go then the boys… hopefully it’s an yearly event!
I have just been in heaven with all the fun festive Christmas events going on. Hoping to check off a Santa visit here soon and some Zoo lights too. Hope you all are having a wonderful Christmas season too. Until next week, XOXO.
*Meanwhile I am the one person praying for snow 😉 *
In celebration of Thanksgiving and the end of fall… as all things Christmas will start this weekend (we started this morning with some Kidz Bop Christmas music), I thought I would share our fall/Christmas card pictures. I took them with my tripod and camera on the Monon Trail by our house. I just love walking on the trail with the boys. It is so pretty and they love it too. Sadly I was unable to get Emma in the picture this year. She was very sick and it was something that couldn’t wait too much longer to do. (She is doing much better and back to 100% now) I promise we don’t forget about her.I am hoping to play around/ experiment with photoshop to add in a bit of snow. I would just love to have a snowy Christmas card picture sometime. I’ll let you know how it goes if I get a chance to try. If you guys have any suggestions, tips, or advice on a tutorial for snow in photoshop, please comment! Every year I have done a picture Christmas card, I have used Shutterfly or Tiny Prints (which is shutterfly too) and I have always been very happy with how they turn out. They have a 40% off sale right now so its a good time to order your Christmas cards!
This Thanksgiving I feel so thankful for all the wonderful family and friends in my life. I am thankful to be close to most of them now and in a wonderful area to raise my boys. It has been a year of change (although isn’t every year?) and I will be missing my Grandfather this Holiday season, but I am thankful he is no longer in pain and depressed but up in heaven. I am blessed everyday with my wonderful boys and hubby. Sometimes I wonder when I am going to wake up from the dream because I certainly do not deserve them. I am thankful to be able to host a big family Thanksgiving this year. I love to host parties and I am just beyond excited. I have the decorations set, menu planned and boys outfits picked out 😉 … always important to me. I hope everyone is as excited as me to get all together. Family is everything.
I did a little mini trial of my place settings to make sure my chalkboard placemat craft looked as cute as the idea in my mind. I can’t wait to see it all together now. I thought I’d share some of the pics and a few other Thanksgiving ideas that I love. (I did forget to put silverware in my mini trial but you guys get the idea)I used these placemats I found on amazon and these chalkboard markers also from amazon to design the placemat boarder. Simple, easy and cute!
Here are a few of my favorite Thanksgiving ideas I have seen that I maybe planning on doing as well.
Down the street from our house are the most adorable wooden Pumpkin decorations on the fence. I love it! What an awesome Halloween decorating display. Everyday that I had driven past them this month I had been thinking how cute it would be to walk down and take some festive Halloween pics. They even have a cute black cat right in the middle. (I did not get a picture of the whole set up unfortunately.) So of course, one very nice afternoon we walked down to take some pictures in our matching Halloween shirts. It was the perfect back drop.
It is so hard to get them to cooperate for pictures sometimes but I do love these fun crazy pictures. It’s pretty much the most accurate depiction of my life. haha
As many of my readers already know, I love Halloween! I don’t think I will ever outgrow the excitement of getting to dress up as a character I enjoy. We did Game of Thrones last year but we didn’t get much of a chance to show off our costumes so this year we decided to do it again (and get daddy to go along too)… and hopefully more people will be as excited as I am!
^such adorable little dragons 🙂 ^
I hope everyone has a wonderful and safe time Treat-or-Treating or whatever Halloween evening activities you have planned. I am currently enjoying a bit of Stranger Things binging while writing this post 🙂 . Until next week, XOXO.
We packed up and moved up north to Indiana!!! Its been hard to keep up with my blog while getting all this moving stuff done. First selling our Florida house and then working on packing up all our stuff. Running out of room in our 2 moving/storage pods and having to quickly get another and arrange all that again. (Thankfully we had amazing support in Tampa by way of a couple best friends and one amazing brother-in-law) Then both boys got sick as we packed up. Then we had Irma hit Florida before we closed on the Tampa house causing delays in the selling down there which meant pushing back moving into Indiana house. Emma dog of course had to hurt her leg during all of this. And last of all, my wonderful Grandfather passed away. It has been hard on us all. I will miss him dearly but I am glad the cancer is no longer putting him in pain. He was such a great man and helped me through some very rough times in my life. I hope he knew how much he helped me. I do know he was proud of my family and I.
As I am typing this, I am sitting on the floor of our bedroom because we have no chairs yet. We have a air mattress for ourselves and Jake is in his sleeping bag. Liam lucked out the best because he has his pack n play. And Emma and Tiny have their own beds. (Since originally typing this post we now have furniture and are more situated. I wanted to include pictures and could not access them for a while. I take quite alot of pictures and my hubby has to come up with creative solutions to organizing and storing them digitally. Right now they are all a mess which is the main reason I haven’t been able to post. I have quite a bit of catching up to do now!)
Here are some fun epic moving journey photos from the past month that I hope you enjoy.^Packing up and moving out^^Our two moving pods that we ran out of space in and had to get a third!^
Last morning in Tampa called for some Mini Doughnut Factory donuts. They are just the cutest and very tasty too!
The boys and I have arrived in Indy! ^My hubby took this picture on one of his house hunting trips so it wasn’t really from us flying in but isn’t it a cool photo?^^Our Y on Indy got cut off a bit but you get the idea.^
After several weeks of living in uncertainty…we have a new home!^Let the unpacking begin.^^Lunch on a storage tote because we had no table or chairs unpacked yet. So classy!^
During our homeless period of life, we took a mini trip to Colorado and went to this wonderful farm to go apple picking. It was so much fun. I cannot wait to get back into a normal schedule and internet back to share our adventures. I still have some awesome family beach photos to finish as well. Yay for getting my photos back! I am also quite excited for our new midwest adventures and home reno adventures to come! This weekend we are celebrating both boys’ birthdays and I am super excited for that too. Love you all.
It has been the fastest year of my life! How is this little guy already turning one?!! We have quite alot going on right now so Liam’s Wild One birthday party is going be a little later. We did have a little party with just us because I did not want him to feel forgotten about. He’s my wild, curious, climbing, walking, laughing, clapping, temper tantrum throwing, sneaky mister. Happy First Birthday baby Liam!
I wanted to share his monthly photos over the past year. He’s grown and changed so much.
Now it really starts getting hard to continue the laying down pictures…
Here are a few from our mini Birthday celebration. He was not into the smash cake at all but he was tired from everything going on lately.Jake did his best to help show Liam how to properly smash and eat the Birthday cake.
I cannot wait to have a big birthday party for both the boys and invite all our friends! Until next week, XOXO.
We took a little beach day with some friends to Pass A Grille Beach in St. Petersburg Florida. We had been trying to do a beach day for 3 weeks but it kept getting rained out! I was so happy we finally got to make it happen. The boys had a blast at the beach and the weather was gorgeous.
It was a wonderful beautiful beach and even had cute little shops and restaurants across the street from the beach. We liked it so much that I made everyone come back to do some family beach pics. More to come on those pictures later. (They turned out sooo good!) I used the GoPro in the ocean taking these pictures. I have really been having fun playing around with the GoPro.
Hope everyone is enjoying the last little bit of summer… I know I cannot wait for some fall fun this year! Until next week XOXO.
We have had quite alot of big changes going on down here and by blog has taken a back seat for a bit. I have been working through the iMovie learning curve and created this mini movie of some swimming fun. I think it will be nice to have some movies to look back on later of our family.
I have been enjoying the Go Pro but I am not 100% sure what I am doing with it yet. I thought it was a pretty cute mini movie. I have take more footage of family outings lately to make mini movies out of. I am learning new things about video editing as I go just like how I have been learning with my photography. I am always welcome to suggestions/advice/tips or any other ideas.
Anndd there goes the hat…There it goes again…^Caught him standing by himself!^Since I have been enjoying photography, I have liked to have little mini holiday photo shoots. I staged this little 4th of July mini shoot with the boys on the front porch. I realized that I didn’t get Jake a patriot t-shirt for the 4th this year when I was changing their clothes right before the pictures. I could have sworn I did too! But I figured what is more American than Cubs baseball anyway. So perfect. I had found some cute little decorations at Target and thought it would be fitting to have the little rocking chair on the front porch. This holiday photo shoot was a bit challenging with wiggly and moving Liam but I think I got some cute pictures.
Since we are finally in a nice schedule and sleeping all night regularly now, I have challenged myself to learn something new. I have decided to try my hand at editing some Go Pro videos. I have been interested in learning how to work with videos and recording some fun video memories with my family. So if anyone has and advice or suggestions on what software to use or which works best or some books or tutorials that are informative, feel free to leave any comments for me.
Hope you all get to watch some fireworks and celebrate our country’s Independence this weekend. Until next week, XOXO.
For Father’s Day we painted a cute little beer crate. I know painting can be super messy but with these Toddler Finger Paints, clean up is a breeze. Liam is still a bit small to enjoy the paints or use them without trying to eat the paint. Thankfully it is nontoxic. Jake really gets into the painting and all the different colors. He was so proud he painted all the screws in the beer crate for dad.
After Liam failed at painting, he got put in charge of coloring the card the boys picked out. He also tried to eat the crayons too.
We got some balloons and Jake was sooooo excited about them. He even asked me to take his picture with the balloons. I knew he would be too excited about them to keep it a secret. The Father’s Day pool party I planned got rained out but everything the boys and I made for dad was a big hit.Delicious mini cuban appetizers. ^It was starting to storm and Jake has been so scared of thunder lately. This ended up the best daddy and boys picture we could get.^
It was so much fun celebrating such a great daddy. Until next week, XOXO!
