Boy Mom Life: A day in the life

Happy Friday everyone! I have a few fun new posts that I have coming up for you all but this week, we had a random 70 degree day and my boys and I just basically took the day off to be outside, doing outside things. I just wanted to share a little bit from our outdoor adventures this week. Sometimes you just have to do that. What is life, if you can’t enjoy it and the people who mean the most to you. Anyway I was thinking the whole time about how funny it is that I have always been a pretty girly girl and here I am covered in mud, stomping in puddles with my little boys and loving it.

Give me all the muddy hands … I am pretty sure that is boy language for love.

20180219_130848

I was the only mom at swimming lessons that actually had mud on her Hunter boots too. Sorry but not sorry. They are super handy, and easy to clean while still being stylish boots.

Incase you might be thinking I just let the boys play in the mud for a blog photoshoot… I just took these pics this afternoon while we were all outside. They turned out so cute and fit so nicely with what I already had written, that I hurried up and edited them so I could add them really quick. Here you go… EVEN BIGGER puddle! 20180223_13002320180223_13003820180223_13004520180223_13005120180223_13013720180223_13013820180223_130146(0)20180223_13014720180223_13021120180223_13021320180223_13021720180223_13024820180223_13030820180223_130345(0)20180223_130346_00120180223_13034620180223_13055420180223_131009(0)20180223_131010

I thought to help maintain my fun girly side, I would share a few cute things I am currently stalking/sitting in my online shopping carts right now.

  • Waiting for these sneakers to come back in stock in my size. I love anything pink.
  • Thinking of trying this Bra. I have read good things about it. Has anyone else tried it yet?
  • Can I please have one of everything? The new Lilly Pulitzer swim is just too cute!
  • Waiting for these Jeans to come back in stock in my size.
  • This for my little guy and this for my bigger little guy while thinking of upcoming Easter. And this splurge or this or even this if I had a little girl. I sometimes just look and daydream. 🙂

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend. Try to stay dry and mud free unless you live the boy life 😉 Until next week, XOXO

Valentine’s Day Outfits: Toddler Boy Style

Just a little glimpse into behind the pictures type post today. I had gotten the boys and I cute Valentine’s Day shirts and wanted to share some pictures of us wearing them with you all. Of course, after I get a little photo backdrop set up and camera ready to go, Jake only wanted to wear his firetruck shirt. I had to bribe him to even wear his heartbreaker shirt. My hubby had gotten me a remote for my camera to help me take better tripod pictures, so as I am sure you can tell from the photos, Jake then only wanted to push the camera button. And he was mesmerized by it. haha. Anyway, thats real life.

Liam’s cute doggy Valentine’s shirt is an old hand me down from Jake. I got Jake’s Heartbreaker Tee from the Gap. I thought it was something fitting for Valentine’s Day but would work any other day as well. I found this anatomically correct heart sweatshirt on amazon for myself and I thought it was just too perfect. IMG_9774IMG_9775IMG_9778IMG_9779^OBSESSED with the camera remote!^

He’s so mesmerized by it and would not let anyone else push the button. haha. At least he did a pretty good job. IMG_9800IMG_9784IMG_9785

Boy mom life seems to always end in my boys getting rowdy… no exception here.

IMG_9789IMG_9791IMG_9793IMG_9796IMG_9797

At least my only little girl Emma is always up for kisses and cuteness. ❤

IMG_9806IMG_9806-2

Next week we plan on making some cute heart shaped cookies and some special Valentines for our friends. I got them their own special Valentine’s Day chocolates to surprise them next week too. I can’t wait to see their excited faces. What are all your Valentine’s Day plans? I hope they are good ones! Until next week, XOXO.

Playroom Garage

Slowly, I have been working on home projects to class up our new house. Eventually we will get to where I want it to be, but what fun is life without some home projects? At least for us; we love doing home projects. I am slowly working on upgrading our playroom space to something way cool for the boys. It is a challenge with all the cabinets in there now but is actually nice for toy storage. Only problem is I constantly have boys standing on top of the counter. Not sure what to do about that, but I am brainstorming ideas and hopefully I can come up some something cool. Meanwhile we had this random empty under the counter space (maybe it used to be a desk type area) that the boys started parking their cars and trucks in. It made a pretty cool garage but mostly turned into a pile of trucks.

First I went to Target (woo whoo!) and Hobby Lobby for a couple supplies… a shower curtain rod and some garage door looking fabric and matching thread. Once I was ready to start, I busted out the dusty sewing machine. *Side note: I used to love to sew things and made alot of cute clothes actually but deciding to purse a degree in Fashion Design really killed my passion for anything related to that.* I don’t have a studio space right now for my painting or projects so I have been setting up on the random sink and cabinet area in the playroom basement area. Like I said before, its not perfect but I am working on it all… over time. 20180119_171828-220180119_170025-2Gotta love my little helpers always. 20180119_210315-2^Curtain rod detail.^20180119_174526-220180119_174537-2Once the curtain was hung up, it turned out to be a pretty cool place to hide and peek out of. 🙂20180119_210224-220180119_210232-2The next step was to paint it to look more like a garage door and less like a grey curtain. I drew a chalk outline of what I wanted to pain then I mixed up a color with acrylic paint I already had and went to town on it. 20180123_164208-2.jpg20180123_164722-220180123_172205-2A quick paper towel and water on the chalk after the paint dries takes care of the chalk lines really quick. 20180124_102737-2I had the hubby add a shelf in for more levels of vehicle storage in the garage. 20180127_135635-2IMG_9763IMG_9756IMG_9754

Then we just play! IMG_9743IMG_9744Jake was the photographer remote button pusher. He was really into it… we had a bit of a fit when I told him we had to put up mom’s camera equipment because it wasn’t a toy.  😀 IMG_9728IMG_9731IMG_9734IMG_9738IMG_9740IMG_9741IMG_9749Hope you all have an wonderful weekend and if you need any Super Bowl party inspiration check out my Super Bowl Sunday! post from last year and my Super Bowl Sunday! post from the year before that. Pretty much have all the same decor so I am sticking with it!

Until next week, XOXO.

Get Outside!!

I love being outside! I am a believer in being very active and I even enjoy all types of weather. I have always said I can handle the most active kids just fine (be careful what you ask for!) and I def have some high energy boys which I LOVE! I promise I am not making that up. haha. I encourage my boys to get out and play everyday so as you can imagine, we spend alot of time outside. I think it’s totally good to let the boys just play and get dirty. We usually go through several outfit changes a day but I know they are getting plenty of exercise. In my dream house, I’d like a mud/laundry room with a mini shower/tub for dogs and kids to hose off before entering the house. (One can dream)

Here are a couple pics from playing in the yard and feeding the fish just the past week.

20170530_10314420170607_170342(0)20170607_170541Recently we’ve been making a few trips to Lettuce Lake Park nearby us. They have a fun playground and some little trails for the little hikers. 20170605_10420320170605_104412 (2)

Can’t wait to go back and bring Dad next time! 20170608_110145_00120170608_11034920170608_11040120170608_11040520170608_110409 We’ve got quite a bit of big things happening in the next couple of weeks and I see alot more mini hiking trips in our future. So make sure you get outside and enjoy the summer!

Until next week, XOXO.

Sleep Training Diary

IMG_8405

The past 8 months, we have been having quite a bit of trouble getting baby Liam to sleep through the night. First he was a newborn then he started sleeping all night like normal… then he got sick, then he started getting teeth, then we traveled, then he got sick again, then he got more teeth and finally he just seemed to have gotten in a bad habit of not being able to put himself back to sleep. It makes it super hard when you never seem like you get a full nights sleep. So, after making sure he’s not sick or in pain from teeth and its just a middle of the night habit, we began to do some re-sleep training. I am a super light sleeper and cannot sleep if my baby is crying even if dad is helping him. So each night I lie awake watching him on the baby camera, waiting to see if he can try to put himself to sleep. I usually spend those wee hours looking at social media. That gets old and not too much updating at 2 am so I started a little diary while I was awake with my most intimate middle of the night sleep re-training thoughts.  I hope no one takes it too seriously and gets a bit of a little laugh.

Night 1. It is 3:30 am. Liam is not really crying but not really sleeping. Watching him on the camera until he falls back to sleep on his own…20 min tonight. Now he’s awake again at 5:30. Hungry. Not much to do except be awake too. Everyone else is sleeping. Im tired. 6:20 hubby offered to go watch tv with him.

Night 2. 1:30 am. Liam is doing the same thing. Lets hope faster fall asleep. Jake keeps coughing. YES! Only 15 min tonight. I hope we are making progress.  Liam woke up Jake… thank goodness he’s a good sleeper! 3am and Jake came down. I jinxed myself. I think he doesn’t feel well. 4:45am. Liam’s awake again. SOB! what a terrible night. I don’t think i’ve slept at all. I can see Liam yawning. Did I mention it’s officially Mothers Day now too. Im just going to nurse him at this point I’m too tired and the hubby is snoring anyway. 5:15… all boys asleep… maybe ill get a few hours. I really wanted to go to the beach today. (Jake had a bad dream and I was able to get enough sleep to go to the beach.)

Night 3. Holy shit! Is it really 6:00am?! Did Liam really sleep all night?! Omg I’m so happy!

Night 4. 3:30 am. Not luckily enough to have an all night repeat… damn…sadness. 15 min now…he’s getting louder not sure if I continue to let him try to go to sleep or go up there…going up there. He’s crying hard. Broke down and nursed him. Maybe he was randomly hungry. 4:08 am now and hoping to sleep until morning. Morning wake up at 6:44. Not bad except the 3:30 problem.

Night 5… it is 5:44 am. Seeing if hell fall back to sleep but he’s probably hungry. He did way better. A little early but at least he slept all night.

Night 6… 2:05 am. He’s doing his sleep whining. Waiting for him to put himself back to sleep. I just cant understand why we cant always sleep all night. ☹ Update… 2:21 am he’s looking around, rolling, standing and crying on and off. 30 minutes to fall back asleep (at least i think he is now). 2:51 am. I have no idea if I’m doing the right things to get him to sleep. Broke down and I’m downstairs rocking him. Maybe he’s got a cold like jake? Teeth? Do i give him tylenol? Ugh I’m tired frustrated and have no idea after 8 months and a kid before. The cat keeps bothering my feet now too. Ended up waking the hubby for help. I needed someone to help me figure out whats going on. Determined he’s not feeling well. Gave some meds and let him nurse. 3:43 am and I’m going back to sleep. (We concluded he had an upset/gassy tummy)

Night 7: Its 6 am!! He slept all night!

That was just the nights this past week. I am hoping we get a night 7 repeat going. 🙂 Over Mother’s Day weekend, I bribed Jake with fruit snacks to do a mommy and me photo shoot. I do really love these boys more than anything… sleep or sleepless nights included. IMG_8413IMG_8423^He discovered he loved pushing the self timer button and kept running back and forth.^

IMG_8444IMG_8446IMG_8495IMG_8501

Hope you other sleepless moms out there know you are not alone. Let’s raise our Starbucks and cheers to all the hard working mama’s out there. Until next week, XOXO.

Strollin’

We spend a ton of time driving the Little Blue Truck all around the driveway and sidewalks around the house. We got Jake the Little Tikes Cozy Truck for his first birthday and he just loves it. If anyone is struggling for a first bday idea, I highly recommend the truck or the coupe from Little Tikes. Super durable too! It has worked out perfectly since The Little Blue Truck books are some of his most favorite books. “Mama! I want to go drive my Little Blue Truck!”

For little guys, we have quite the small car and bike road ways. I always think it would be funny to see our little parade and I decided to set the timer on my camera and capture it. Randomly, it was not going well but my hubby showed up and snapped a few pics for me. I am glad whenever I get to see pictures of me with the boys too. Since I enjoy taking photos, I am rarely in my own pictures and they usually don’t turn out as nice as they would if I had taken them. A bit of a photographer’s dilemma. Well anyway here are a few pics of our Little Blue Truck Parade… I especially like this first one because we got Emma dog in it too. She will follow or led Jake anywhere!

And just for some extra fun are a couple more snaps of the boys and I at St. Petersburg Sunken Gardens. They were really not into pictures.

20170401_11054820170401_110556

I am still working on a few new projects but we just returned from a little vacation up north to visit family. One day it will be nice to see family more often and then actually get a chance to travel to new places on vacation!

Until next week, XOXO!

Christmas and the end of 2016

We had been on the road traveling for the last couple weeks. We set out on the long journey from Tampa to Chicago then down to Kokomo Indiana. Not that long by plane but we wanted to bring our wonderful Emma with us and she would get too scared on an airplane. So it’s a two day journey in a car with two boys under 2, a dog and a ton of stuff. I know I always over pack but I get so excited to wear something different! This particular trip was honestly very stressful for me. Liam pretty much never switched to a different time zone and stopped sleeping all night. Not his fault, he’s not 4 months yet and its alot for him to do. But I felt like I was on an opposite schedule than everyone else the whole time. I can’t wait for the day when our trips that mess the kids up are for fun vacations instead of just going to see family every time since they are far away. It was so nice to get home but I still wish I had more time to see friends. The couple of playdates I did get to have made me so happy to know that there are other moms out there like me. (You know who you are 🙂 )

It was a nice Christmas. I have been excited to start doing some family traditions of our own this year too. Some of my favorite Christmas traditions is making Christmas Cookies for Santa…

One of the hardest things for me about living in the south is no snow. I absolutely love snow. Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and are ready to ring in 2017 this weekend. I know I am going to dress up fancy and drink fancy champagne from our super comfy couch here at home.

Until next week, XOXO.

Sandbox Project

We decided to build Jake a sandbox this past weekend. My only request was to have a sun shade over it so Jake and I would not get sun burnt or sun poisoning. My husband did a wonderful job planning it out and building it. I was not too much help with this project this time. First we went to get supplies. Jake was helping every step of the way.

2016-05-28 10.04.392016-05-28 10.04.532016-05-28 10.05.442016-05-28 10.06.25

Next, the hubby put up the sun shade. I wanted to make sure the sandbox was in the shade during the most intense sun of the day. Having the sun shade up would let us see where the shadows fell when putting the box down.

Jake was really into helping use the tools.

2016-05-28 13.27.452016-05-28 13.27.50IMG_5246

The sun shade turned out PERFECT!!

Then it was time to build the box itself.

IMG_5189IMG_5229IMG_5249IMG_5242IMG_5233IMG_5260IMG_5252

We put wire on the bottom to keep gophers from digging up into the sandbox. We have a lot of gophers in our yard!IMG_5256

Next, we filled it with lots and lots of sand! That was a hard job!

IMG_5212

And we put mulch around the box.

After that, I requested some little seats on the sides for people to sit on when building and constructing sand works of art.

Time to relax with momma!2016-05-30 17.09.14

There were more detailed measuring, sawing and measuring again steps of course but I took the backseat on this project. The hubby did a wonderful job! I was the project photographer and assistant. I hope you enjoyed reading about our weekend project! Stay tuned for more exciting weekend projects. Until next week, XOXO.
