Mother’s Day Craft Idea

Last week we had a couple little craft days. I let the boys get super messy with some finger painting. Since they love getting dirty outside, I thought they would love being covered in paint too. And of course they did! I found the clay pots and thought it would be cool to have the boys paint them for their Grandmas this Mother’s Day. I wanted to include some flowers but I did not think they would ship well. I really love having the boys create gifts for all those special people in their lives. I am a big fan of homemade gifts. I think it makes everything so much more special even if its not picture perfect and it is so much fun to do together too. Here are a few snaps from the painting day. I had taken more (some cute ones when Liam was putting the paint bowl on his head) but realized halfway through I had forgotten to put a memory card in! But I still got a few pics of the painting.

Just a few plain unpainted clay pots. IMG_8377IMG_8378

Then it was time to do some painting. It was so exciting to see Jake concentrating so hard on his painting. He was working quite hard on making his pots pretty. IMG_8380IMG_8381IMG_8382

Liam needed a bit more help to keep the paint out of his mouth.IMG_8385IMG_8386IMG_8387IMG_8388

After the initial finger paintings had dried, I went back over the kid scribbles and added a little bit of painting details to make more recognizable pictures.IMG_8389IMG_8392IMG_8393IMG_8395

I thought the finished product was pretty cool. I hope all you mothers out there get to enjoy a nice Mother’s Day weekend with your families. Personally I am hoping Liam finally starts sleeping all night again regularly for me. I think we are stuck in a bad habit and I haven’t done a good enough job sleep training him. #momfail right?! Until next week, XOXO.

Dinosaur Planter

I wanted to put some sort of planters in the kids bathroom that I am working on redoing, and was looking for something cute but fits the kid theme. I decided to plant some air plants in a plastic dinosaur to make a kid bathroom planter. I found and ordered these plastic dinosaurs online. I originally was going to make several of the dinosaurs from the set into planters but they quickly became a favorite toy. IMG_8305

IMG_8303

I cut a hole in the back of the dinosaur with a knife that would fit the plants I wanted to plant. IMG_8299IMG_8301The little dinosaur in the picture became Liam’s new favorite teething toy. HAHA

Next I took the dino outside to paint it with spray paint. I wanted to do it in a bright orange color to accent the colors I already have in mind for the rest of the bathroom. For a whimsical children’s look, I think primary colors work well for a nice kid vibe in a children’s space.20170430_11115720170430_11105020170430_11110720170430_111039

After thorough drying, it’s time to fill it with dirt and a plant! I used a couple small air plants in the back of my brontosaurus. IMG_8361IMG_8366IMG_8367IMG_8368IMG_8371IMG_8373IMG_8364IMG_8374IMG_8375Such a happy Dino face 🙂 .

I am planning on making a planter out of a shark as well for the bathroom. I think I will paint it blue or purple. Small ferns and succulents would also look cute in the figurine planters if you wanted to use other kind of plants. Pretty simple yet very modern cute!

Until next week, XOXO! ❤

Bathroom Prints

I have recently been working on redecorating and redoing hardware in a few of the rooms in our house. One of my bathroom redo project was taking and putting some bath time pictures of the boys in their bathroom. I edited them in black and white and added a black matte with a white frame. I love how it looks. Such a cute idea for the bathroom.IMG_8260IMG_8278

2017-03-15 17.53.59We will be repainting the bathroom walls which is why I have not hung the photographs up yet.

I have been decorating with other cute ideas as well. I am working on these shark paintings.2017-03-30 13.43.38Working with illustration and paint pens for this project. I am using watercolor paper medium as well. I am planning on doing some sort of matte and frame with them but I have to finish the paintings before I can figure out what will look the best with each one.

I was originally inspired for my boy’s bathroom concept by this Shark Bathroom Rug from Pottery Barn Kids. It was on back order for quite a while and I just got it today and it is just too cute!! I can’t wait to get the walls and decor complete and finally see my boys bathroom vision come to life.

All projects are slowly coming together. Until next week, XOXO

Super Bowl Sunday!

It’s my favorite non official holiday… THE SUPER BOWL! Although I am forever an Indianapolis Colts fan, I will be cheering for the Patriots this year. I am hoping for and predicting a good close game but I don’t think Matty Ice and the Falcons can take down the Patriots. Although Matty Ice is quite good, Bill Belichick has a pretty darn good defense and will have a good plan to stop the Falcons. On the other side of things, Tom Brady is already quite an extremely attractive man but since I have started following his facebook and instagram accounts, he seems like such a good daddy and hubby, which makes him even more attractive. So I am rooting for another Super Bowl ring for him to bring home to his cute little family. Also, in my many NFL fantasy’s, one includes a playdate with the Bradys (I think it would be so fun!) and another is playbook analysis with Bill Belichick. So I respect the Patriots quite alot.

PATRIOTS: 31       ATLANTA: 27

I thought I would share some Super Bowl Sunday party decor that I did last year. It was cute and fun. img_3655img_3657img_3659img_3661img_3662img_3663img_3664This year I am setting up the same table decor but doubling the attendance at my party. Last year the hubby was away on business and Liam wasn’t born. On the menu I have bacon wrapped smokiesbaked raviolis , taco dip and a CHEESECAKE because I love football!

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend! Happy Super Bowl and GOOOO COLTS! 🙂

Until next week, XOXO.

Toddler Play Table : Part 2

A few weeks ago, I posted about how I made a couple unique toddler play tables from an Ikea table. Toddler Play Table: Ikea Hack.  I wanted to share some photos of the table I made for my son. It is different than the first table. I also wanted to show how I added a roll of drawing paper to the tables. It is great for many hours of toddler drawing creativity. (Even if it is just stacking the chair on top of the table while mom is trying to take some pictures.)

IMG_4803IMG_4804IMG_4789IMG_4786

I wanted to do a fun boy Superhero/Villain theme. I used this Heroes and Villains paper for the top of the table. It has all types of characters on it!

IMG_4787IMG_4788

Then for the chair cushions, I used this Star Wars fabric. I liked how both the fabric and paper had a squares theme to compliment each other without being the exact same design.

IMG_4791IMG_4800IMG_4799

I got a Mala paper roll and a Mala tabletop paper holder which I attached the the side of the table with regular screws. I wanted the top of the table to have the maximum space for activities. I stained the tabletop paper holder at the same time I stained the rest of the table pieces to make sure they came out the same color.

IMG_48062IMG_4794IMG_4798

Jake loves the table, although I have decided he needs to be a bit older to use the paper roll. He would just unroll it all and waste it right now.

Toddler Play Table: Ikea Hack to see how I constructed the table itself!

Thanks for checking out my craft idea today!

Have a wonderful Mother’s Day weekend! I know I am looking forward to some ever needed appreciation! Until next week, XOXO.

Toddler Play Table: Ikea Hack

Before Christmas I got a couple Latt Ikea Children’s Tables and decided to add some cool finishes to them for my son and nephew. I made two one of a kind children’s tables pretty easily with a little time from these super affordable Children’s Tables from Ikea. I got a few supplies to go with it.

I will show you what I did for my nephew’s table and then get some more pictures of my son’s table in action in a couple weeks!

First I cut the railroad map to the size of the table top.

IMG_2890

And then cut the foam to just a bit smaller than the chair bottoms.

IMG_2891IMG_2892

Using just regular Elmer’s Glue, I glued the foam to the chair and gave it plenty of time to fully dry.
IMG_2893IMG_2894IMG_2897

Next, I cut the fabric just enough to cover the cushion and chair bottom. Using the fabric Mod Podge, I attached the fabric to the chair and gave it plenty of time to dry.

IMG_3008IMG_3011IMG_3014IMG_3016

For the table top, I used a glossy mod podge and followed the directions. I ended up doing quite a few coats on the top. This took several days to complete since I had to wait inbetween coats and between naptimes and bedtimes.IMG_3173IMG_3175IMG_3176

Over the next several days, I stained the rest of the pieces of the table and chairs. I wanted a very dark color so I had to complete a bunch of coats to get it even and the perfect color. And again I had to work around Jakes busy schedule.

IMG_3438IMG_3178

We assembled the children’s table and chairs. Jake man is totally into tools, so he was super excited to help me put them together.

IMG_3442IMG_3446IMG_3440

IMG_3183IMG_3184IMG_3185

And the finished Children’s table!!IMG_3186

It was a big hit on Christmas morning. I love going over to visit my nephew and seeing his drawings on the paper from the table.IMG_3564IMG_3565IMG_3569

Jake’s table is another unique one of a kind table. I will share pictures of his table soon and how I attached a roll of drawing paper to the table. It is always good to have plenty of inspiration for your own projects! Until next week, XOXO!

Super Bowl Sunday!

Super_Bowl_50_logo

Since I love football, I always get pretty excited for the Super Bowl each year. From the game, to the snacks, to sharing the evening with friends and family; it is just a great day. This year being a Indianapolis Colts fan, I am rooting for my man Peyton Manning. I have had Cam on my fantasy football team for a couple years now so I like him too. He is another great football player. I think next Sunday will come down to a battle of Defense though. Enough football talk… although I could go on and on… that would bore most other people.

Even though it will just be my little family watching next Sunday, I still like to have a little party with Super Bowl snacks and food. I thought I would share some of my inspirations/ good ideas that I have found via Pinterest this week. I can’t wait!

^What a cute idea.^

For our menu, I think I am going to plan a pot of Turkey Chili because who doesn’t crave Chili and football! Taco Dip for during game snacking, one of our go to party snacks! I also love to dip some veggies and chips in this Buffalo Chicken Dip. Of course we will be having some Mickey Nuggets for our littlest football fan. I plan on doing a little bit of football party decorating because why not!

^I love this idea for a snack table cloth. I am defiantly going to make one like this for our little party.^

And finally, one of my favorite Super Bowl traditions, the Football Pool. Though we will not be doing one this year since its just the 3 of us, I love this idea! The past few years, I have just drawn one on a big poster board. This website has a free printable you can just frame and use dry erase markers! I wish I had thought of that!

I hope you are all as excited and now inspired as I am. Have a wonderful weekend! Until next week, XOXO.

Projects with a Toddler

I have been working on continuing some painting and other crafts this week. Crafting, painting, and artwork with a very active toddler adds a whole new complexity to my work. This week was my birthday and my parents sent a little box of supplies to make a Valentine’s Day wreath. They know me so well! I decided to have Jake help me make it. Lets just say we are lucky it turned out as well as it did. I would have liked to make it more puffy and fluffy but I’ll take what I can get.

IMG_3602IMG_3603IMG_3613IMG_3614IMG_3615IMG_3616

IMG_3638

Jake was working on coloring a birthday card for his Aunty Annie!!

IMG_3624

He used a cat liter box for his table, but whatever works!

IMG_3626

And then we tried to get a painting started. Lets just say its a work in progress and Jake ended up with only a little paint in his hair. He was really into paint brushes!

IMG_3633IMG_3635

He can create quite a mess while helping his mommy. Most of the time my little man is finding a way to climb on top of everything. So it makes it hard to work on any of my own projects.

But I love my little helper soooo much!

Decking The Halls

Bring on the Christmas season!!! We are fully submersed in Christmas music, cooking baking and house decorating Christmas spirit down here. I have been channeling my inner Elsa to bring a little midwest snow to our warm Tampa home. Snowflake decor everywhere!! It was the first year we did not cut down our own Christmas Tree from a Christmas Tree farm which was a little sad but not as sad as the Christmas Tree farms around us. I think our Costco Christmas Tree turned out very pretty.

WOW its sooo tall!!

It just screams Christmas Eve.^

And finally another snowflake project I have been working on. Jake has tried to destroy it while helping me so it is taking a bit longer than anticipated.2015-12-11 14.00.22

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!! Merry Christmas Season!! XOXO

Kitchen Helper Stool

It is so fun to have a little kitchen helper lately. I know he isn’t much of an actual helper and actually makes more work for me, but I love spending time with this wonderful little man. 2015-10-28 09.24.57

^Don’t worry! I was right there the whole time. He was not in danger of falling off the chair. ^

2015-11-10 18.23.20

I wanted to make something that my son could stand on and “help” me cook in the kitchen instead of just a chair. It is sooo much easier to have him right there playing with the measuring cups or helping stir than running around and climbing everything while I try to cook dinner. I saw some cool Ikea hacks made from the step stool. I decided to make my own. It was pretty simple to make and works great! My husband helped with the adding on to it so it is done a pretty professional, but you can make one without the fancy wood working.

First I built the basic stool from Ikea.

Next I turned it over to my hubby who added the railing on the top. Jake and Emma helped. Well, they tried at least.

2015-11-08 10.11.052015-11-08 10.10.51

He made holes for the railing posts to go.

2015-11-08 12.54.17

Measure twice, Cuss once 😉

2015-11-08 10.16.082015-11-08 10.13.54

2015-11-08 12.57.442015-11-08 12.53.48We put a lower railing on the stool because Jake really likes to climb and we thought it might help keep him contained better. Depending on what you want to do, you do not need the secondary railing.

2015-11-08 10.16.352015-11-08 12.55.05^Little fingers are just the cutest!^2015-11-08 09.43.38

After all the assembling we had to wait for the glue and wood putty to dry. Then of course some sanding. You do not want sharp corners and edge if a child is climbing on it.

Then the final step was painting. You can paint or stain any color or combo of colors you want. The nice thing about the stool is that it is unfinished wood so it is very versatile. I did a combo of two colors, River Rock and Sailor Blue, to create a cool effect. Make sure you do a top coat to seal it so you can wipe it down after using without worrying about messing up the paint.2015-11-10 15.21.372015-11-10 15.22.062015-11-10 15.21.542015-11-10 16.36.142015-11-10 16.36.27

And we tested it out by making a Pumpkin Layer Cheesecake of course!

2015-11-12 10.14.102015-11-12 10.28.052015-11-12 10.24.242015-11-12 10.23.482015-11-12 10.25.132015-11-12 10.24.432015-11-12 10.14.44

The Double Layer Pumpkin Cheesecake was delicious. I highly recommend it. These faces prove it was tasty…
