Mother’s Day

I know I usually try to post on Fridays, but this week I wanted to share our Mother’s Day craft that Jake made for his Grandmas. I had to wait until they received their packages in the mail before posting or it would ruin the surprise.

This is what we made!

I used painter’s tape (masking tape) to first tape down a message. I used some water color paper because it is a bit thicker. You do not need special paper to do this craft. I just already had some.

Then, I put blobs of different colors of paint in various places on the paper. I just squeezed blobs from the paint bottles. Make sure you use non-toxic paint in case you child rips a hole in the bag. I put them in gallon ziplock bags and made sure they were tightly sealed.

Then it is time for some fun! Jake love this. He could not get enough. The feel of the paint in the bag was so much fun for him to explore and learn.

He even got his feet working on it!

After it’s been fully smeared around (and it’s nap time or bedtime) then carefully peel off the tape to reveal the message. I used s pair of tweezers to help not get myself so messy.

Now you just let it dry and your painting is complete! Looks awesome little Jake man!

Even my hubby thought this was super cool. He said “You are going to be the crazy art mom aren’t you?” YES! “That’s cool. Art moms are fun.” I certainly hope so!

Hope everyone is having a wonderful Mother’s Day!

Until next week, XOXO
