Each is a 12 x 12 inch stretched canvas, which is framed with a golden colored floating frames. Each piece sits back into the frame. They are mixed media pieces consisting of oil paint, gold leafing, thin metal wire, and a resin coating. Completed February 28, 2013.

These two are a new collection I have begun to work on. Originally created as an experiment with oil paints and gold leafing, it evolved into these beautiful pieces. The golden wires are recycled materials, that I enjoy working into pieces, to create beauty instead of trash. The floating frames do a very nice job of containing the pieces. The pieces are meant to be displayed together, as they compliment each other. I named the pieces “Stroh”, the German word for straw, because they remind me of the German fairy tale “Rumpelstiltskin”, where an imp-like creature spins straw into gold.
